Zombie, Run!

I have found an app for your Android phones that works quite well with your gps. Simply go to www.androlib.com and type in the title of this topic including the exclaimation point.

The app puts zombies on a google earth map of your area after you select a destination. They have 3 speed settings from 2mph (romero) 4mph (28 days later) and 6mph (resident evil) as you make your way to your destination you may cross paths with some of these nasties, though you cannot actually kill them you will have to turn to avoid them, and run if necessary.

This simuluted outbreak is great for those who want to get out and exercise by walking and running.

Be cool when you are near a zombie, as long as it is green it has not gotten a fix on your location. When it turns red it has spotted you so hustle up and get out of the area.

Haha that's an awesome idea... except for one problem (to do with perception and certain parts of your inner ear - the reticular formation I believe, though its been a while since I've studied neuroscience).
To demonstrate what I mean, hold a book infront of you and try to read it while moving your head around. Easy, right? Now try to do the same thing while moving the book around. This one isn't nearly as easy because the movement of the point of focus is not (entirely) a result of movement of the head, meaning the brain can't use information from this structure of the inner ear to correct the eyes and keep a focus on what you're looking at.
What relevance does this have to the topic? Try making sense of little zombie icons and streets etc. while you're running (and, thus, you're not likely to hold the phone steady).
This MIGHT not be such a big problem (wouldn't know; don't have an android phone), but it springs up for me as a potential problem.

dude! I'm so totally downloading this!

Looks like getting a new phone just got bumped up a few pegs on my to do list. I'd have way too much fun with that. What happens when they get you, assuming you've let that happen?

The screen goes black, and in white text "Braaaaaaiiiiinssss - You're dead" That was the first message I got when I was consumed by the goulish bastards. My big issue, I am fighting with what we think is Pneumonia, and I was testing this last night, in a dark rural town. Needless to say, getting eaten by something I couldn't see, and trying to run with lungs full of fluid really didn't work in my favor. Oh well, live and learn.

Why don't the Presidents fight the war?
Why do they always send the poor?

So are the zeds randomly generated or are they based on a formula or something?

They are randomly generated, but they do move. The damn thing actually forced me to go out the back exit of my house because it put a zed at my front door. As I stated in one of my topics, I have 3 routes out of here, and thank goodness I do, this was a near perfect exercise. Having looked at my map zoomed in, I knew that I had to go the other way, and by the time I got from one end of the house to the other, the zombie had walked around my house in a clockwise fashion, and ended up directly between both exits.

I need to find out if this is available for other platforms besides the android...the university has wi-fi throughout a lot of the campus, so if my itouch had this kind of thing, I would love to have it. I'll have to look around and see what I can find.

I know you must have GPS on your phone for this to work.

Well, I'm screwed then, I just got a new phone to replace the one I put through the washer. I probably won't be getting another one for awhile.

Friends, is proper English so hard?

Science: Where is your God now?

Captain's status: Skyrim. You will probably not see me for a few weeks.
