Seeing as the last thread has fallen into disrepair, I ask both Dragisoni and Sarge for permission to remake this thread, I have received it and have finally gotten the time to, so here we go.

Dead Frontier, Online Zombie MMO

This game first made its appearance on our site thanks to Dragisoni and his thread Zombie MMO which he posted last year.

The player list had become outdated, many of the accounts listed had become inactive and there had been quite a few people making new accounts. So I shall remake this list, please give me some time to check through all 45 pages of the previous thread and I shall check all the accounts from there and make sure to post them. (Feel free to simply inform me of any/all accounts that you possess to make this process a little easier.)

The Wiki previously used had moved to a new address: The new wiki This one updates fairly often.
A useful Map for while out looting, it shows the locations of public bathrooms throughout the city and it also shows the regions of the city.

Any multiplayer game made by a ZPI member, should be entitled ZPI (add loot or grind if you want, it doesn’t really matter) and the password should be eliot (Outpost attacks included) And also, while playing, please use the ZPI chat.

Also, I would like to inform everyone that there is more to the site than just the gameplay, there are also the forums which can be entertaining at times... Although I suggest you stay far away from the general discussion "Zombies, what would you do?" thread...

If your still playing go ahead and reply to this with your character name.

Normally when I log onto Dead Frontier, I just click the "Forum" button, and search through the Role-Play section... But this time as I clicked the button something caught my eye. A "Gambling hall", I clicked it and, of course, it gives me a message: Sorry, but this section is currently for Gold Members only. It will be released to normal members on November 16th 2009.
I'm going to guess this has been here for a few days and I just happened to miss it.. Seeing as GMs get to test out new updates a week before free players.
I am making a request to any ZPI who has purchased Gold Membership: Would you mind checking this out for us? I just checked the announcements forum and there is no thread about it, but the Wiki has some information on this New building. Apparently you can bet anywhere from $100- $100,000 and it pays out double if you win.
Playing that gambling game I noticed a pattern... When you first start, follow the first two movements of the queen, more than likely when the cards stop, she will be in one of those two positions. It does not work all the time though, so far I have jsut broken even doing it.

Anyone still playing?

Sleepeh is always doing stuff. Fact.

Well yeah, they used to be just the most badass zombies out there. You hit a green and you were going to die unless you had a shot gun or something. But now you just whack them four times and they die. Last time I went deep into the city I leveled twice. That was a good run. I think it may be time to do that again. Maybe I'll go visit death row. Anyone know why that's such a cool spot?

if you can "visit" death row more power to you, I have a sledgehammer and a kevlar vest and I keep getting killed by Red long arms(and I get about 40 screens to the south of death row), Oh by the way, I saw "Big Red" the other day, killed me in 2 hits, and dont try to take him on with a chainsaw, he has arms twice as long as whatever I was attacking with, But I am all Melee.

After the twist, you'll feel a snap and the body goes ragdoll on you.

Don't you guys get it. The gambling game is a program that runs off of a random number generator. No matter how many times you play you still have a 33% chance of choosing the right card. If you play long enough you will loose money. Why are they doing this? So that they can cut down on inflation inside the game. Eliminate a certain amount of money. Don't put it back into circulation and you cut down on inflation. There was no other reason for it. Now I'm going hunting in the red zone again. I need to pick up some extra cash.

a "set of cades" is composed of one thing of planks, and one thing of Nails. In order to use a "cade" You must have a claw hammer and both planks and nails.
If you barricade the main door and all the windows on the first floor of a building and then go through the building and check all the rooms (killing any zombies you come across) The building will then be "secured" And you will be permitted to go into Outpost mode by pressing the O key (There will be a message that pops up on the bottom of the screen, like it does when you have a full inventory). Going outpost mode in the city is pretty much like Nastya's outpost, except you can only access the market, storage, high-schores, Credit shop, and the Forums.
Bathrooms are among the best places to barricade because they only have one door, no windows (this is why I gave you a link to that map) the big problem with then is that they normally have multiple zombies in them. (Remember that purple star I said to get to? Bad idea... Got there and there were four LAs... And then another ran in the door as I tried to escape. (guess who lost 5K thanks to those darn things...)
Instead of asking us you could have just checked the wiki:

DF in 3D!

Quote:
That's right, Dead Frontier is going to be 3D!
We've now started development of a new Inner City Client using Unity3D, a full featured modern 3D graphics engine that supports browser deployment (ie you can play it in the web page just like Flash). The game will play roughly the same as it does now (mouse controlled aiming, WASD movement and a roughly overhead camera view) but with a few key differences:
The game will run much faster. Unlike Flash, Unity3D can take advantage of your PC's graphics hardware so everything should be a lot faster and much more smooth. Just as with the AS2 to AS3 conversion we'll be looking to handle 30+ zombies per screen. We're confident that 99% of the PCs currently playing Dead Frontier will be more than powerful enough to handle this.
Multiplayer will be in near perfect sync and much faster overall. You'll be able to fight bosses together.
The game will become more of an MMORPG. The game will become more of an MMORPG. We'll be doing away with the existing multiplayer lobby system. Instead you'll be able to randomly meet people in the game world just as you would in any other MMORPGs such World of Warcraft or Runescape.
The Outpost portion of the game will remain exactly the same. Trading, Inventory, Banking etc will all work the same.
All characters, items and equipment will be preserved! The new 3D version will be using the exact same database as the current version so nothing will be lost during the transition.
Your 3D in-game avatar will look just like your Outpost avatar.
Areas will be much larger and more open plan. Right now each 'screen' is only a single street, in the new version you will be able to travel 3-5 blocks before encountering a loading screen. Inside building you'll see the entire floor rather than just single room at a time. You'll be able to explore not just the building itself but also the areas around them such as parks, car parks, gardens etc.
There will be whole new set of monsters with a wide range of special attacks. This new cast ofcreatures will create a new need for strategic planning and teamwork in battles. There will be 4 bosses and 7 special creatures on top of about 30 different variations of zombie.

There were some pictures... but for some reason I can't view them to post them on here... Anyone with an account should check their E-mail for this message.
The release is planned for some time in summer 2010

Thanks for the info NIE! I still think I'll pick a different route than shotgunning though because I'mn a min/maxer from other MMO's and I don't like the idea of half my spec not using points that I invest. It seems like melee depends heavily on crits also so I think I'll just have to pump up my crit stat pretty high anyway to dish out damage there.
How's the rate of fire on Rifles and Pistols? I have 5 points in Pistols from when I first started so considering going Melee/Pistols. I haven't put skill points into any other weapons.

The Cheapest at Top, Expensive at Bottom:

  • Melee
  • Pistol
  • Shotgun
  • Rifle
  • MG
  • Grenades

The following is Damage Output Rate (Best to Least):

  • Grenades
  • MG
  • Shotgun
  • Rifle
  • Melee/ Pistol (Almost the same Damage for both, just get distance and chance to miss with pistols)
The Rifle Vs. Shotgun in the game is drastic. It was great for Outpost Attacks from sniping down from the roof, however I do not see that still being in effect (unless I am missing it). Most combat you run into is close. So the shotgun may be more cost efficient.
Training for Rifle, Pistol, and MG you require: Crit, Accuracy, and Reload.
Training for Shotguns and Grenades you require: Reload, and Strength with a slight Accuracy for Grenades.
Training for Melee - Crit and Strength.
Choose what you wish. Just be cautious about your wallet (since looting for decent items costs money also) and make sure you apply a bit here and there to Endurance for survivability.
My character has been Melee, MG Melee, Grenades, and Melee, Rifle. I tell you, Grenades was the most fun, but I started to go broke so I had to switch. Rifles didn't do much for me, and MG was just too much noise for my head. So... Right now all I am is Crit, Str, Endurance, and Pure Melee running with a Grinder (MC) shredding stuff as I go.

I have a feeling we'll see a bump in newbies over the next couple of days. So, be nice!

NO

I'm still playing this and I am now at lvl 50. I'm part of a clan that calls themselves the Viking Clan. Currently I'm working on getting together the equipment needed to attempt getting TPK (Top Player Killer) to get access to the elite shop and purchase Dusk equipment.

Will you hold me back? If need be I will leave you behind...

i am the waffleking and i hath returned to the mean streets of fairview. the game looks amazing since going 3d. only 11 doctor so far but im working my way up and have added everyone on this list
