Long Term Food Storage: Grains

So I've been doing a lot of research on the preservation and preparation of grains. If storing small amounts it looks like canning jars will work, but large food storage grade 5 gallon buckets sound like the best choice for large volumes of grain and beans. These grains can be obtained at co-ops and health food stores and when stored properly in dark, cool, and dry locations can keep for long periods of time. If i understand correctly, they can keep for periods for up to five years.

When grinding your grain for consumption it's wise to only grind that which you plan to use for that day only. Some sources claim that within a day some ground flours can loose up to 70% of their nutritional value. Though wheat is the most commonly ground grain, or berry, there are many other grains such as corn, barley, rye, rice, and Amaranth.

More to come on grinders, as i am still doing research
