This thread's purpose is to spur discussion and practice of knowing one's home and surroundings well enough to use anything as a weapon. The idea is to find decorations/furnishings/appliances that can (in whole or in part) double as emergency weapons, whether they are owned already or should be owned in the future. This shouldn't include decorative weapons or hidden weapons. Part of the weapons' functionality is that their use should be unexpected and surprisingly effective. As an example, I wouldn't list the knife block or silverware drawer in the kitchen because these are overly obvious; an enemy should and probably would expect you to go for one of these in a fight.
I guess we'll go by room, starting with the living room. What kind of decorations or furnishings could be used as weapons in the living room? What items are already in your living room that easily double as weapons?

My keyboard & mouse are weapons.
Anyone that still uses a wired mouse has a weapon right next to them. the cord can be used to choke someone, it can be swung with the mouse at the end as a weight to hit something. However this will probably result in the destruction of your mouse.
keyboards can be used as weapons- depending the keyboard. Most modern keyboards are too flimsy to be used as weapons. only people with old school keyboards like my prized IBM Model M with it's 6 lb steel backplate makes it a viable weapon. it also have a quick detach cord at the back so you don't need to go behind the PC to disconnect it. but since no more were made after 1993 it's also near-irreplaceable if it got damaged or broken, so I probably wouldn't even consider using something so treasured.
Actually same for my mouse, the only one in the world that fit my hand perfectly, went out of production in 2005 due to poor sales. unlike my keyboard it has no geek following, so getting a replacement is probably impossible.
Anyone use a cast iron pan? that's a weapon. Aluminum & steel pans are too light, copper is only marginally better but still too light. This $25 10" pan of mine - lasts 100+ years - is a better blunt weapon than any other of its kind (pans, skillets, pots)
I wouldn't trust my life to a fancy $100 professional copper/aluminum skillet, but I would to my $25 cast iron pan.
