I've been trained to deal with knife wielding maniacs and professionals. I've even co-instructed Quanico courses in advanced knife fighting and defense while I was with DSS. I'll tell you though, knives still scare the living shit out of me in a fight. I don't EVER want to be in a knife fight, not EVER. I have a couple times, but each time was an experience that I will never forget. I came out of it better than most, but I still managed to get a few cuts. Not as bad as the following pictures, but enough to know that I didn't want to do it again.
If I ever have to confront a knife wielding assailant again, I'm simply going to shoot the bastard and call it a day, unless I have no other choice but to engage hand-to-hand or melee. Why Cops Shoot Guys with Knives
The officer figured, due to his size and fighting skills, he could disarm a knife wielding aggressor.
To all the idiots out there who always say, "Why did the cops have to shoot him? He only had a (insert your choice of weapons here, i.e. knife, bat, club. whatever) he didn't have to be shot", you should look at the photos.
If an officer tells you to drop your weapon, just drop it. If you're a retard, stupid, on crack, mental or just "scared" ... too bad. No one deserves what this cop got for just doing his job.
This is vivid proof of how deadly people who are "only armed with a knife" can be. Some of the public think that officers should try to disarm someone armed with a knife but anyone who has had training in knife fighting will tell you even if you win, you are going to get cut.
Keep this in the back of your mind when confronting someone armed with an edged weapon.

Looks like a small serrated kitchen knife or a small tactical folder. if it were a big knife you'd see the bone and that bone would have a huge chip in it. The cuts are long and wavy which implies serrations.
From what i understand from research done on these photos it happened at a prison somewhere. It was either against an other inmate or a security guard. The story gets really garbled, but apparently this was done by a make shift knife, either way.
So if a shiv can do something like this, just imagine what a real knife would do.
