No, not a body guard or rent-a-cop. The night watchman is this:
A Steel baton cover and handle that when unscrewed reveals a 15 inch blade, the handle leaves room to store extras (survival kit, bow shurikens, blinding powder, etc). The metal blade cover can also be screwed on to the back to make a short spear/sword. The cover could also be used by itself as a bludgeon or as a regular baton when screwed on to and over the blade. Very fun tool but also very useful. Tell me what you think.

epic! do want!

where can i get one?

ohhh..i likey very much...*googles frantically*

i found one place that sold something like that, but it didn't look reputable, so i didn't feel comfortable ordering them. also, i think it might be illegal in Kansas. Not only for EDC, but i think just possession of an item like this is a crime in my state.

Ok so here is the legality of such an item in the US as defined by national case law roughly translated.

Class 5 weaponry includes bludgeons, OC or chemical spray, make shift non bladed weaponry not specifically mentioned in class 4 or 3, electronic discharge devices, non weaponry objects.

Class 4 weaponry includes any knife, ice pick, weaponized bludgeons, swords, maces, axes, spears, dirks, daggers, bow and arrows, pneumatic pressure projectile devices, cross bows, (specifically mentioned) Katana, polearm or any weapon designed specifically to kill or grievously wound another human being.

Class 3 Firearms and restricted weapons limited to Shotguns and rifles with a fixed stock and internal magazine and barrel length in excess of 18.5 inches, brass knuckles, nunchaku, spring loaded knives where a button is depressed to open a blade, a knife or sharpened metal rod that incorporates a full hand knuckle guard or individual knuckle covers sequentially aka a trench knife,

Class 2 any gun that can feasibly be fired with a single hand (somehow including pistol grip shotguns) up to .50 caliber with the exception of shotguns with a set limit of 12 gauge, any rifle or shotgun that requires an external magazine at time of purchase has a capacity of more than 10 rounds or has an adjustable or movable stock or has the ability to affix a bayonet to the end of the barrel.

Class 1 restricted fire arms including but not limited to fully automatic weaponry, destructive devices, explosive devices, (very specific) Any Other Weapons, silenced fire arms of any caliber, any caliber firearm exceeding .50001 except in the case of shotguns where the gauge is greater than 12, any knife propelled from the handle by any means.

Synopsis:
So basically US courts have said Class 5 weapons do not give sufficient threat of death or permanent injury as to be an aggravating factor, there for as such they are non regulated by the AFT or federal government.

Class 4 on the other hand are considered deadly weapons, but not so deadly that it presents danger to the society at large, so they are not regulated.

Class 3 and above are regulated by the ATF, therefore they are restricted deadly weapons because they increasingly pose a severe threat to the society at large if not regulated.

So in essence you are carrying what the federal government specifically classifies as a deadly weapon, where as a bludgeon is not. Even if you beat some one with it and never unsheathed it, you would be charged with use of a deadly weapon in the case that your actions did not warrant the use of it. So excessive force is now alot easier to pursue if they wanted to. State Law and local ordnance is allowed to further restrict the legality of any of these items especially in the case of what can be carried and how. If the bludgeon is visible you may still be charged with concealing a weapon.

youch, i didn't even think about federal cases. I knew there had to be more than i was reading. Thanks Bunni.

Can't be very structurally sound. Reminds me of survival knives with insufficient tang. I've had several break on me, finally decided to stop getting them altogether.

Can't spell Slaughter without laughter.
