I realize this might draw the flames, but feel like the topic should be addressed.
I'm new to this site, but something I've already found frustrating is how revisiting a topic in the forums that's already been covered immediately gets dismissed and the author is referred to the earlier discussion, no matter how old the thread is. I understand why the long term members don't want to rehash things they've already covered. I get that. But what about newcomers to the site?
It seems to me the current attitude stifles discussion and prevents new ideas from forming. You never know when someone with a different perspective will offer fresh ideas if he gets a chance to bounce his ideas off of others. In addition, it could drive newcomers away since they may not feel like they have anything they can contribute because there's only so many topics you can have when it comes to zombie preparedness.
In it's current state, the ZPI seems geared towards the long term members who have been here for years and have taken part in most of the forum discussions. Perhaps that's how the moderators want it, which I understand. However, if they want growth, it seems like old topics shouldn't be taboo. And if older members don't want to take part because they feel like the topic has already been beaten to death, then there's no need to participate.
Overall, I'm a big proponent of open discussion, and it just seems to me that revisiting old ideas isn't so bad. What do you think?
