Ok, so I bought a coppy of minecraft while it was still in alpha, it wasn't much then, but now I gotta say, it's grown on me. Especially survival mode. I havn't played any multi player maps yet, but I do intend to soon. Anyone else on the site play/ have a server to suggest?

Check this sick stuff out.

yea I play it alot Arti if you pm ill give you the mutli player map I play on. one of my favorite things about it is how as your game continues you start expanding your home base into a village and then a city into an entire world!

To be honest I can play the game for about 10 min before I get bored of it.
There are only so many mansions and cliff top wonders you can make before it gets dull.

Bango speaks true, which is why mods and multi-player work well together. The map I play on has an awesome leveling mod that allows you to get perks from everything you do. It adds an entirely fresh element to the game. Adventure becomes more than just a means to an end because things become easier and more rewarding as you go.

Check out the mods for this game, there are some crazy ones. There is even a mod wherein you make different models of planes and fly them over the world, bombing enemy fortresses. People get crazy with this thing, man.

Well, I just found a cool multi player map where the people aren't all morons, and some of them are even balanced enough to work with. Right now I'm working with someone to dig a mine. It's working well, because we split everything we find in the process of digging.

Here's my minecraft creation on a multiplayer server 100% mined materials Wizards tower and cemetery

Yeah, the island doesn't float, it just hovers over the same spot forever. I've actually built another ajoining island and I'm starting on a fourth huge island. None of it is actually mined materials. All spawned.

You cheater... My castles are built from the ground up after I completely hollow out the area for miles around... Wish I could spawn materials... but for some reason I cant use text commands... and I can't download anything thanks to this damn school's shitty network...

I have played it so much, I can't die. I've built portals with nothing more than a bucket and some sand. I have faced creepers and zombies by the dozen. I don't use cheats. The game has been beaten.
Lately, I've tried my hand at Garry's Mod. Currently killing zombies and combines with the nuke mod.

Minecraft 1.0 came out. Someone asked if they fixed the graphics yet.

I don't think i'm THAT special, but I've been looking all over the interwebs and can't find anything like i've rigged up.

So powered rails act like a booster. However, if the end of the rail is against a solid block, it acts like a powered sling. I've seen a lot of people use gravity to start momentum and use the powered rail to boost movement. It was just too clunky for me, so I've built something different. Within a small space I've placed a sticky piston with a block of cobblestone and when extended it sits directly behind a 4 rail stretch of powered rail. Powering the rail and the piston is a simple button. You place the mine cart on the first section of powered rail and get in. When the button is pressed it provides power to the rails and extends the cobblestone behind the rails at the same time, this changes the rail from a booster into a powered slingshot and sends you on your way. as you leave the rail, the block retracts and the rails turn off, so that for your return trip you have a clear path to wherever you want to go, and an effective braking system.

If this is familiar to anyone, let me know, because i would love to study their methods.

One other thing i want to try is to make an upward pointing sticky piston and place a rail on top to see how things connect. If it works, i'll attach a powered rail to it so that when it's raised, it acts as a stopping brake, when lowered, it turns into a slope and becomes powered. anyway. thoughts and comments? EDIT: nope, i did some testing, and the rail pops off on the downswing, so that just won't work.

A friend of mine does a TON of stuff with track. I'll ask if he's figured out anything revolutionary. I know, however, that he hasn't tried your slingshot technique. I'm sure he'll be so happy to learn about it. It might even fix the problem he's having right now.

Have you tried pushing a block of track into the rest of the track from the side? It will probably have the same outcome as pushing it up from the bottom, but you never know. This game can be weird and buggy.

Ok, i messed around with fraps, and got some short clips of the more interesting parts of my mine-cart system.

The two short clips are uploading to YouTube now. Gimme an hour or two and i'll provide links. I still havn't seen anyone use what i'm using. yet.

Edit: ok, upload is done. This is what i got so far. My stop/switch vid is still loading. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pofPf_HR0q4

Ok, here is my stop/switch: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VHOC5Rbodw4

yea i made an infinite loop rail system with a piston drived feeder system back when pistons first came out. Im currently working on making it in our Multi world but its gonna take quite a while.

How the hell do you find the goo things for sticky pistons? I have never found one... Of course "never" means "never in the week that I actually stopped building castles and started fighting monsters"

You get them from smile monsters. slime monsters ONLY spawn in the bottom 16 blocks, and ONLY in certain chunks. There is a app out there that is (technically not cheating) that will tell you if your chunk is a chunk that will spawn slime's. They will spawn regardless of light levels, unlike other monsters. What i did is built a slime "farm" i excavated a slime spawning chunk and bathed it in as bright light as possible, this stopped the skeletons, spiders, and zombies from spawning and allowed room for the slime to spawn, as they spawn at 25% the rate of other monsters.

Everything you see in the video on that map was done 100% by hand and by me. the only "cheat" was the web app to find out of my chunk would spawn a slime.

And where did you get this app?
