What game do you think best prepares one for the zombie apocalypse?
Yeah.. Well I keep my belief firmly on DooM.
Well.. Since it's not just Zombies in there.
I usually just create a map with a bunch of Pinky Demons. : /

Bangi said it best. Get off your ass, get outside, and do some teamwork drills with paintball and/or Airsoft. Turn off the TV, shut down your game system, and realize... a video game is NOT going to increase your chances of surviving a zombie apocalypse.
If you can afford the latest and greatest for your video game system, you can afford some airsoft gear.

Left for dead. Yeah. Maybe even dead rising for the xbox 360. Sure the massive quantity of zombies gets tiring but in the game, not everything is found easily. You have to travel for supplies. And you're given the option to help people. Yup yup. Haven't played too much of left for dead.

I play alot of Resident Evil games because I'm too poor to afford the next gen systems -- I'd say Resident Evil 4 for it's detail but it's probably not the best option out there.

since i have yet to play any zombie videogame since the Silent Hill ONE demo....which isn't even zombies... i won't bother trying to blow smoke and say one is better than the other.
I will say that paintball/airsoft are GREAT for training
i can't confirm airsoft as of yet since i'm playing for the first time tomorrow
In paintball, there is a lot of squad based movement
"you go there, i'll cover you, then when you get there, cover me and ill move"
everyone takes a direction....stuff like that
there's also a lot of sound focus, despite the ungodly bulkiness of those helmets you can still hear quite well and the need to focus on not just the sounds around you, but how much noise you make yourself is an incredible asset... as for actually shooting a gun...not really, although you get a very rudimentary feel of what its like to point a gun at someone..

I agree, you'd be better off with that than a video game.
If you want a video game, I'd say Resident Evil Umbrella Chronicles, although you can kill zombies by shooting them enough times anywhere on the body, one shot to the right spot of the forehead will kill anything that isn't a boss. tyrants and the leech creatures from the RE zero part, are the only non bosses I can think of that a good headshot wont kill right away.

Deffinetly, LEFT 4 DEAD
Even though it will never compare to the actual expiereance of hundreds of the infected banging on your front door at 2A.M....... BUT
It really proves the importance of team work and finally gets rid of the lone zombie hunter idea the resident evil brought in and it is damn fun. Dead Rising sucks and ya it just... sucks.
Left 4 Dead also allows you to play online with people you have never met and you have to fight off the oncoming horde with teamwork and pipebombs!
i say i couple of games like fallout 3:
-there are ghouls
-post apocalyps world makes people go mad like raiders (dead rising u got psychopats)
-keep the condition of ur weapon in mind
keep in mind that fallout 3 isnt really a zombie game but it gives other details u should keep in mind at a zombie apocalyps
left 4 dead:
-teamwork is important to survive
resident evil 4:
-against all odds u MAY NEVER give up
the last stand 1&2:
-organise ur time for higher chance for survival
doom 1&2&3:
-who said there will be only zombies? ;p
hope this was usefull :)
Hahaha. I have come to deeply enjoy bango's critical one-liners. It's definitely a valid point, however.
I mean, I can see the argument that if you are going to play games anyway, what games should you play to help prepare for the end? Really, though, if you're going to "prepare" for the end, get your body moving. Train with weapons. Train without weapons. Make a BOB and train how you will grab it and go. Train how you will act in emergency situations. Do some paintball, do some dag, take up a contact sport, whatever.
While it is good to see zday preparation in all things you do, it's no-where near as effective as actually training your body and your reactions.

This brings up a big problems I have with videogames and the internet in general.
Once someone gets good at Call of Duty or reads a Wikipedia article they think they're a god damned expert!
Example:]
I'm watching a movie with some guys from my hall [Reservoir Dogs I think], and this one dweeb starts calling out the names of guns he sees. I start a discussion asking what his favorite is. He goes "blah - blah- model - blah which is similar to the AR-15" I begin noticing some inconsistencies in what he's saying, and ask the obvious question. "What have you shot?" His reply just about knocked me flat. "Oh, a .22 revolver."
Later when we're watching Lord of War he actually tries to correct me on a gun!
If you haven't shot a gun it's all just hypothetical.
If you haven't lived in the woods it's all just hypothetical.
If you haven't killed a zombie it's all just hypothetical.
There's about a mile of difference between knowing and doing.
