This should motivate everyone here and get the wheels turning, what did you or are you doing today to prepare?

Went out on black Friday picked up some cool things. I stopped at sears and bought some torx head sockets, allen head sockets (metric and standard), allen wrenches (metric and standard), spade bits, and a 54 piece power bit set. After I got out of sears I stopped at best buy and bought two kindles and some accessories. I put together a rudimentary set of metric tools seeing as how I haven't gotten my craftsman set back from my buddy yet. DON'T LEND YOUR TOOLS OUT PEOPLE!!!!!!

I spent most of my day updating my favorite zombie preparedness website, in an attempt to bring it to the modern era.

Additionally, in a moment of true OCD I organized all my ammunition into one gun safe, long guns in another and pistols/other... things... in the 3rd.

Keep Your Head. Remove Thiers.

I restocked and repacked my FAK's. I added some tampons and super glue and placed a large belt clip on my small personal carry FAK.

Today I bought a whole load of canned goods and gallons of water to augment my already pretty nice stockpile. I got all the food groups, canned misc. meats and lots of citrus fruits because scurvy sucks. Big Lots had dollar 6-packs of ramen noodles so I added 2 of each Beef, chicken, shrimp and oriental.

Yesterday, I organized all my gun cleaning chemicals and maintence tools into 1 pile and added some little stuff like 2 sharpies, a set of allen keys, a 6-in-1 screwdriver, a punch, a small nail, some brushes and a bunch of long stick q-tips. Today, I picked up a toolbag of appropriate size for all this crap and after I post this, will go downstairs and make up my gun maintenence/ range bag.

Oh and also yesterday, I found my old world band radio in an old duffle I haven't touched since I was a kid. Good times. It's not a 2-way radio, but at least I can get a LOT of different frequencies to keep tabs on what's going on. Better than nothing. It goes in the BoB, along with a heavy-duty tarp that's silver on one side and brown on the other. I guess the silver side can be used to try and attract attention and the brown side can be used to try and hide better.

Next on the agenda: Some dehydrated food for the BoB, repacking and reorganization of the BoB, more canned goods, more water and more ammo.

Cheers

Jeez its been a while... I'm in the final stages of purchasing a house. All we are waiting for now is a closing date and money from the bank. On black Friday we picked up 2 Dickies thermal hoodies each. 1 primary and 1 spare. We also picked up spare bdu pants.
I re-organized the bobs, eliminating the luxury items and unnecessary odds and ends. Also reorganized the vests in a way I finally feel content with. We still have a lot of packing to do, but most of the emergency stores are boxed and ready to go.
After a brief conversation with gallo thursday evening, Friday morning I got a pair of BATES boots because the arch support on my other pair broke. Lesson learned, don't buy boots from walmart. Second lesson was to read tags because had I bought the damn things Thursday night, when I went to go check them out, I could have gotten them for 55 bucks instead of the 80 I paid... I also hit the local army surplus for poly pro shirts and pants for the wife and myself. I hit the range Saturday with the family, picked up and extra Glock 17 mag and added 3 more people to my band of misfits. After picking up some provisions for the cars last night for the predicted "coldest and heaviest snow season on record," today I picked up a set of collarless poly pro tops for the wife and myself for work, 2 more poly pro balacava's and more mre's. I'm hoping to be in the new house before the snow falls.

I began to exercise, again, and I'm slowing off sodas. I lost my progression around the beginning of my school year, September, so I'm starting over. Meanwhile, had some interesting things happen between me and this one girl. Think my life's looking up. I've made a lot of headway on Scouting, and I hope soon to be a Star. Sadly, with my timing, I'll not be able to nab the Eagler Centennial rank patch. Hundredth year it's been around, and I waited too long. But I could never push the wire like that, honestly. So I'm happy with this all. Doing a lot of stuff for school, hoping not to fail, you know. My high school has the worst on-time graduation rate in our state, and I know students who are proud of that. Makes me angry.

I'm going through a stage of cleaning, and organizing, and that's a real good thing. I'm changing my lifestyle in good ways. Other than that, I remembered the site. Sorry to have been gone, anyone who was wondering what happened. Stuff, you could say.

Veni, Vidi, Dormivi - I came, I saw, I slept.

I learned how to strip my handgun and practiced taking it down and putting it back together.

Last night I got one of my room mates started on the path of the swordsman. If he practices every day he will be formidable in no time. At the same time I had lot, and I mean lots of fun with my spear knife and shield showing the downfalls of a katana. I need to fall back in love with the spear lol.

So it has been a rough couple of weeks. My primary mode of transportation broke down ON MY WEDDING ANIVERSARY, which prompted me to go out and buy a new car. So my new daily survival vehicle is a 2011 Chevy HHR. It's perfect for the daily urban grind, but it is also a pretty decent long term survival vehicle. It has two batteries that come standard from the Bowtie Pallace that are begging for an inverter. It has all kinds of storage in the cargo area and I am getting around 28 MPG and on a full tank it can go over 400 miles. More to come on my mods and gear.

I haven't picked it up and the ad i bought it from has been taken down, so i can't put up pictures, but it's a 1990's 4 door Jeep with a straight 6, 4WD. It'g got high miles, but it was a woman's commuter car, so it's been babied. It needs a new starter has almost 200K miles on it, and it doesn't yet have a receiver hitch, but it's got new tires and hardly any rust.

They were asking $800 USD, but i traded a calf for it.

It (should be) sitting at my parents now, My best friend (and mechanic) should be there Monday to replace the starter and troubleshoot any other issues that he finds, and i'll be there Wednesday to finish up any work it will still need.

Yes, i know it has a lot of miles on it, but for 800 bucks equivalent, 4wd, and it works, it beats the hell out of my wife's current car i'm driving that randomly decides not to turn left.

Its been a while since my parents house got a fresh coat of paint so I helped my dad paint the house and the grilles at the windows. Hey, who says you gotta live in a dirty mud hole in an apocalypse XP. Third day and we're still not finished. Good exercise btw haha.

Hmm today I did the certification programs for ASP, Monodinak, PR24, Handcuffing and Handcuffing under duress, Fire arm control, Weapon Retention, Close combat police knife tactics, Controlling an individual with a knife, Ground fighting as an officer, Saber OC spray.

Yesterday I had an awesome party for the Eve of the Winter Solstice. I professed my unyielding affection towards a very special woman that I now have the privilege of courting. Her belly dancing teacher is a member of ZS and I told her she needs to tell her about ZPI. So we might get a sexy belly dancer zombie kill squads in here.

So right now I'm top of the world lol. Recerts done and nothing but fun.

I got me some new fruit/veg/herbs seeds/bulbs and am still trying to find more banana and lychee plants.

Just shuffled through the preparedness cupboard to attempt to get an inventory... forgot to do inventory as we went... Shuffled through shed and organised what I could without taking it outside into the thunderstorms...

Batlle without power on and off through out the day and have got torches and radio's ready along with the Weber Barbeque.

Tonight we are going through our cyclone preparedness kit and are going to see if we can create a backpack version of it just in case.

DUMB WORKERS

Installed a fiber optic front site on the gp100, picked up some cci stingers for my "favorite" .22 pistol in an attempt to make it a more formidable weapon. The bullets are 35 grain copper plated hollow points. Lead nose .22s flatten out spectacularly but they tend to tumble. I am hoping the copper coated hollowpoints will give a more consistent mushrooming effect that will cause more damage. Picked up two new spark plug sockets, a torque wrench (torsion bar), reversible snapring pliers, a new 8 inch quarter inch extension, some low profile through sockets, new wire snips, and 10" supras. Bought some new work boots, wolverine brand composite toe electrically insulated non slip water proof with an abbrasion resistant toe which looks like rhino liner mixed with a synthetic rubber. They are pretty sweat but I am still breaking them in. I love the toes because usually I scuff up leather toes within 30 minutes of putting on new boots. did some maintenance on the vehicles new spark plugs oil and air and oil filters. Been a busy could days.

I treated myself to a couple of late Christmas presents. I bought a new Stack-On guns safe, and a new 12 gauge shotgun to go inside it! I picked up the gunsafe for $155 and the shotgun and a box of 00 buck for $215. The shotgun is a Mossberg Maverick 88 Security with an 18.5 inch barrel. I am hoping to get in some range time this weekend and I will fill you guys in on the details.

Finally got a Tapco Stock for my 10/22. I've played with alot of other stocks and conversions, but this one really takes the cake. I set it, played around with it, Nyx took pictures. Its great and I thought my 22 was complete... until.. I noticed an issue in the Bushnell Sportview scope that I had on it. Turns out one of the center lenses is knocked out of alignment and is free floating. Scopes broke, need a new one and I can't fix it. Either way best to know to fix it now than when I need it.

Well I fixed the scope. I couldn't leave it alone, and since the the warrantee is void do to impact damage No harm in ripping it to pieces. I have never had to concentrate so hard in my life. I kept confusing bread crumbs and screws. Why make screws that tiny? From an engineering stand point I couldn't even understand the purpose of some of them. I got rid of a few erroneous parts. Re seated the lenses. Sealed hair in one of the lenses by accident, sigh. Broke the cross hairs, but they seem to work fine, just look funny. I was thinking of modding them anyways. Making em fiber dot or something, that isn't to hard.

I restocked my EDC repair/survival kit, the emergency kit in the handle of my "rambo" knife, and replaced most of the cordage in all of my kits with 550 para-cord. I ordered a Smith & Wesson 'SWAT' watch to replace the POS one that broke on me a few weeks back. I got a second zippo lighter for EDC so my original can go into the car or BOB.

Been thinking about starting a EDC pocket dump thread.

I recently took OnPoint tactical urban escape and evasion class. I must say that it was amazing! It taught me a lot and opened my eyes on how important training is prior to needing it. I practice everyday now. I'd recommend it to anybody who's interested in it. Its well worth it with what you learn.

"Skin in behalf of skin. A man will give up everything he owns in exchange for his life. But stretch out Your hand and strike his flesh and bones, and he will surely curse You to Your face."

took inventory on the firearms, ammo, and knives in the armory.

added a few more items to my "MacGuyver" Altoids tin.

A long time after trying to rotate stocks, I finally realized that I havent had a list of the whole inventory and their respective expiry date. Realized that after some of my food went bad and I didnt notice it before. Such a waste. Now I made a list and ordered them according to nearest date. But to tell the truth, I didnt really do much zombie preparing since last month.

Today we adventured. Got a new face on board with the fun survival activities. SOD, Shimmers, Tiny Asian, Magic Man and I took a hike to our little spot in the woods. SOD worked on a new Teepee, Shimmers cut down a tree with a knife. I made an A-frame hut and got about 50% done with hand carving a recurve bow, but broke it when I tried to string it. I expected it, the point was to make it not care about it. Little Asian worked on collecting tree sap, because it is tasty. Some of us chewed on yummy wood pulp for its apple like goodness. In all fun day with amazing weather.

Going to the local bookstore and picking up, 'The pocket ref' by Thomas J. Glover. I ordered it last week. It's a pocket reference guide to most things.

Picked up a low profile ratchet, consolidated and organized my tools.

Closed on the house that is now located in the middle of both my parents, the wifes parents and all of our friends. Got first hands experience on driving a big box truck. Today I'm moving over my welder and other tools and organizing my workbench that's in the basement. In the next few weeks we will be slowly moving everything over whilst settng everything where we want it to be. I'm picking up a generator today or tomorrow, as well as a snow blower. I'm also replacing all the dead bolt locks and replacing the old front door with a steel door and reinforced door frame. Future plans are an 8 foot wood and wrought iron fence, a multi car garage with a loft and a bunker.
