Hey guys, I've been thinking about doing a pocket dump/EDC thread for awhile and since the kiddo isn't sleeping tonight i finally got up off my keester and dug out my camera to take a picture of the stuff i carry around with me. everything i carry has at least two uses.

So starting from the top left:
Mossy Oak hat with LED lights in the bill
Black Paisley bandanna
rite in the rain pocket notebook
Coleman stainless steel flask - personally customized by coating it in epoxy and painting it black
leader safety glasses - interchangeable lenses - smoke grey shown as that's the one i use most, clear and yellow available
schrade tactical pen with fisher space pen cartridge
generic plastic comb
carmex - works well for chapped lips and a flame extender
standard wallet with typical ID, cards, and cash
my "MacGyver" survival box using an Altoids tin: http://www.zombiepreparedness.org/node/630
Smith & Wesson "SWAT" watch - black metal band
leatherman wave - black oxide
Zippo black matte finish
home made paracord "survival strap" 11-ft
Motorola Droid
custom medical "dog" tags
"universal" handcuff key on chain
Coleman Maxx 144 lumen flashlight
mistic electronic atomizer cigarette (ok, this has only one function, but it keeps me from sucking down a real one when the cravings hit)
key carabiner with light my fire Swedish firesteel, signal whistle, USB drive, and assorted Keys
The two containers are my home made first aid kit: http://www.zombiepreparedness.org/node/685 that comes with me whenever i leave town or plan to be away from the house for more than 8 hours
the second is my blood glucose kit that comes with me per scheduling around meal times and any time i might not eat at home
Taurus PT24/7 PRO CDS in 40. S&W - the handgun comes with me any time i'm not going to school (stupid a-hole administration says it's not legal to keep it locked in the car [eye roll]) or a government building
Extra Magazine - both loaded with Hornandy Critical Defense rounds
Smart Carry Holster as primary carry system - not shown

Nice EDC loadout there WD. I need to add a bandana but need to find a nice neutral color to avoid being confused with a gang member and would advise other members to do the same if possible. Red and Blue bandanas can incorrectly identify you as a member of two particularly dangerous and well known gangs and there are stories of members of those groups shooting first and asking questions later.

By the way, I noticed your black oxide Leatherman Wave has a pocket clip and looks quite convenient. Was that an after-market add-on and what is your experience with it so far?

Would you be so kind as to divulge what's in the "MacGyver Survival Tin?" It may even be a good idea for a new thread.

well i figured black was both "cool" and "safe", so i got a few packages of black and white. That, and i keep it in my pocket with my flask. It both cushions and insulates, and if i ever go into an urban setting, i won't be sending the wrong signals.

Yes, The pocket clip is technically "after market" as it's not included with most standard sales. It's manufactured by Leatherman and fits MOST of their standard multi-tools. It's offered in black oxide and stainless, like many of the tools they make. It's about $6 - $9 bucks on Amazon and about the same on eBay. It sits in the locking mechanism of the leatherman so it holds really secure. The metal is fairly tough, but with this first snowstorm, i fell down and caught the leatherman on something solid and broke the clip. It was pretty traumatic and took an awe full lot of force, so it's understandable. especially since the fall also ripped off a cloth belt tool i had. with the set it also comes with a lanyard ring, but i never use it. The belt clip is well worth the money for me as it places the leatherman where i need it for quick access. Add that to the one hand opening of the blades and it's good to go.

the "MacGyver" survival tin has a thread, though, currently it only has information about the type of line to put in it. It's under "Altoids survival tin" I recently started calling it a MacGyver survival tin, because that's what it is. I'll go update that thread for you.

Black=people's, White=folk, blue=disciples, Red=lords

Avoid those colors in bananas. Those are used specifically for gang actions colors. Stick to grays pale colors, worn out colors, oranges and greens. No Gangs currently use camo patterns. Just an FYI.

gang colors might be a problem in more urban areas, but i don't think i have too much to worry about here in the plains of america. Denver or KC Mo? Yah, i might.

I didn't know about the black and white bandana colors. I'm thinking of getting some bright orange material from a craft store and using that as my bandanas. Then, I could make them as large as I would like to carry. I want a bandana that's a bit bigger than the standard size they make. Good info there on the colors though, thanks.

Thank you for the information as well WD, very much appreciated.
