Not a very practical idea as if you have a knife you can make fire in other more portable ways but still if all you have is ice a knife and some tinder it would be useful.

Cool but I dont think tinder burns much at all. Im not knowledgeable on starting fires with magnifying glasses. So Id just want to know, could such a device start a fire on hard wood? Hehe and I doubt I have the skills to make such a nice shape out of one lump of ice. Kudos to this guy

it may come or it may not. But its not just zeds that may ruin your life

While the idea of starting a fire with a lense made from ice is a good one, its too impractical. The angle of the sun is going to be the key factor with the ice lense. Add to that the time and energy put into making one and you could very well find yourself up shits creek without a paddle with the added bonus of loss of both body heat and burned calories. This might be something that you'd want to practice, if its possible in your region, to use as a (matches ran out, flint striker worn out, no more sticks for fire spindle and no other ignition source for miles around) last resort. It might not always work, but I guess if you practice the method and can get lucky with the right sun angle, knowing how would leave you better off than not.
